Aqua Bound Sting Ray Fiberglass
Updated for 2023! Our most popular blade style for flatwater, the Sting Ray Fiberglass offers tight-fitting construction and reliable performance.
The Sting Ray Fiberglass kayak paddle can be considered one of the most popular recreational kayak paddles in Aqua-Bound’s line. With its introductory price point and reliable construction, it’s a great choice for beginners, guests, or as a spare paddle during expeditions.
100% fiberglass shaft is durable and strong, yet lighter than commodity aluminum, so it will hold up in the most uncertain of conditions while not draining all your energy. Fiberglass is also valued for being warm, plus flexible and forgiving when compared to aluminum. The blades are constructed from fiberglass-reinforced nylon blades and are designed for forgiveness and just the right amount of flex, keeping the kayak moving efficiently even with extra gear slowing you down. The efficient blade shape reduces fatigue and joint stress allowing you stay out on the water longer.
At 33.5 oz, the Sting Ray Fiberglass is the heaviest of all the Sting Ray models, but it is well-balanced and comfortable for low-angle paddlers. The Sting Ray Fiberglass is the lightest flatwater injected molded kayak paddle available at this price point. A NEW redesigned, stronger blade. The new blade shape provides a smoother forward stroke with less chances for flutter, stiffer feel, and quieter entry and exit. The upgraded fiberglass + nylon blade material is stronger (meaning less flex) and thicker, making it more durable and robust long-term.
The carbon ferrule insert is light, tight, and right for the long haul. This is a sizable upgrade over plastic or glass ferrule inserts. The shaft is only available with the standard 3-hole, snap-button ferrule (0° to 60° left and right feathering angles). The shaft is also offered with regular shaft diameter and comes in four different lengths (210cm, 220cm, 230cm, 240cm).
